| Friday, July 8, 2022 Dear Members, I hope everyone's summer is off to a safe and fun start. As I complete my second month during this second stint as the President of Woodholme, I am excited about the vitality I see through-out the club. Membership continues to increase. The golf course is in fabulous shape and our members appear to be playing more and bringing guests. Despite some weather challenges, the pool season is off to a good start with some new additions to the program coming soon. Racquets play continues to increase as will the facilities that serve the fast-growing pickle ball program. Finally, our dining facilities are busy as ever with lots of rave reviews on the food service and our club events. I want to thank Chris Murray, Oliver Leoni, Chef Richard and all of our staff for their hard work. Please continue to enjoy all the club has to offer. In contrast to this great news, I would be remiss if I did not focus on one issue that has become painfully obvious to me during these first two months. As a child and young adult at Woodholme, I first hand saw the members show great respect for the club and its rules. Simply put, now, too many members seem to have the opinion that they can do whatever they want at the club. Rules and, frankly, good manners, appear to be optional to some of the membership. As examples, in just the last few weeks, I have dealt with the following issues: - Members walking on the golf course for exercise during normal play hours and creating a dangerous condition.
- Members not listening to clear instructions from the life guards and being rude to them.
- Members bringing in town guests to play golf on weekends.
- Members using the racquets facilities without signing in guests.
- Members parking in clearly marked fire lanes and handicap spaces.
- Members being told the golf facilities were closed for an outing and using the course any way.
- Members using disrespectful and inappropriate language in communications with staff and other members.
None of these particular instances are the end of the world and I'm trying not to make too big an issue of any one particular incident. The trend, however, is concerning. In order to make the club more enjoyable and equitable for all members, I implore you to review the rules of the club and use your best efforts to abide by the rules as they're in place to benefit the experience for all members. The grievance committee of the Board of Governors of the club intends to take rules violations very seriously going forward. I sincerely hope, after this letter, that committee has little or no reason to meet. I appreciate your membership and support of the club. I hope all of you will consider this letter a friendly reminder of the rules that govern activities at the club. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Very truly yours, Arthur H. Adler President Attachment: WCC Rules and Regulations - July 2022.pdf |
