Dear Members,

The Annual Meeting of Woodholme Country Club is scheduled for Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 8:00 pm in the ballroom at the club. Enclosed please find the Agenda for the meeting, the revised budget, and the resolutions. A proxy is also attached if you are unable to attend the meeting in person.

The Executive Committee of the Board of Directors and the Budget and Finance Committee have worked extremely hard to develop a revised budget for this fiscal year (please see the enclosed budget). Like many clubs and businesses across the country, Woodholme still is feeling the remnants of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our budget is realistic to conservative.

We hope to achieve better results. Most importantly, the overall fiscal condition of the club is in the best shape in generations. Due to the land sale to Lennar, the club is debt free and there are significant funds in our account waiting board decisions on the next steps. Lennar should start construction on their land later this summer.

Fortunately, private party business has returned and our bookings are very robust. The dining season is off to a great start and our featured Wednesday theme buffets are a big hit. We look forward to another successful summer camp experience for our members' children with increased programming, The slide in the pool was a great addition and we know our pool users are excited for another great season.

Membership continues to move in the right direction with 46 new member families since the beginning of the fiscal year. Woodholme had well over 60 membership inquiries, and we plan to continue the drive for new Members throughout the season. We look forward to the new member reception on Thursday, May 5th.

The changes to the golf course this season will be dramatic. 188 trees, almost all evergreen trees, are being removed from the golf course. A few hardwood trees were cut down due to their deteriorating condition. The course is being returned closer to its original design and we expect that the health of the course will improve.

On a more serious note, Steve Potter, our long time Superintendent and the longest serving superintendent in the area, has informed us that he will be retiring on or around June 5. Steve will continue to provide consulting services to the Club.

Generations of Woodholme members owe a great deal of thanks to Steve. His loyalty and commitment to the club was extraordinary and he significantly contributed to the well-deserved reputation of the golf course. We wish him a happy and healthy retirement and thank him for the 40 plus years of hard work! Steve's longtime assistant, Jeff Muller will be taking over Steve's duties for this season and, hopefully, for years to come.

Finally, the hearing for the approval of the proposed Chase Bank at the corner of Reisterstown Road and Woodholme Avenue should occur this summer. If all goes well, construction work on the Chase site should commence this fall.

We look forward to seeing you at the Annual Meeting. However, if you cannot attend, please make sure that you sign the proxy and return either by email to administration@woodholme.org or to Shelly at the front desk.

Sincerely,

Alan Summerfield
Club President
