Hopefully by now most of you have heard the good news about Lennar and the sale of the land. The Club is perhaps just one more summer from having the funds to pay off debt, and making many needed capital improvements. While in this process, it is very important that we manage within our budget as we try to deliver an experience that meets the expectation of all members. Currently the Club is still under contract with Lennar and the deal is progressing as scheduled. As new information becomes available, members will be made aware by the Real Estate Committee.
The wet conditions we faced this season were truly historic. This summer was the wettest on record, while the temperature in August was the 2nd warmest in the last ten years. As you can imagine, this caused the course and pool to be closed numerous times during season. Our recorded rounds played were significantly down, as were the revenues from the course. The aerification process after Labor Day proved to be very difficult thanks to heavy rain followed by extreme heat. Steve Potter, Course Superintendent, and staff have done a remarkable job this season dealing with all of the weather related issues.
While we did receive record rain, it did not reflect in the dining areas of the Club. In the month of August, our member dining areas exceeded budget in the Grille and Snack Bar. Our revenue in the Snack Bar also exceeded last August's totals as well, a great feat considering so many days of closure on the Golf Course this season.
In the Catering area, the revenue received also exceeded budget, and year-to-date we are just shy of budget. Recently, Woodholme held a showcase event for 80 party planners from the area. The reviews were fantastic, and we hope to add many outside events in the months to come. Now that holiday season is approaching, we are asking members to think of Woodholme to host your annual office or company party. If you cannot book your event in December, we would like to remind you that January is also a great month to host your event.
Since May, Woodholme has added 20 new Members to the Club. Most new Members that have joined Woodholme are full golf, and our recent improvements to the website are being used as a great marketing tool for recruitment. A recent drone video has been added to the website that shows the entire facility in high definition. The video is definitely worth watching; please visit the website to view it. As part of our new member initiative, we will be marketing our Corporate Membership to the business community. We feel that the course can support 25-30 Corporate Members, with the ability to play during the week. We have found that our existing Corporate Members tend to schedule events and outings, helping us drive our top line revenues.
For the fall and winter months, our cart fees for the golf course will be reduced to encourage course utilization.
Our cart fees will be reduced to $22.50 for 18 holes, and $15 for 9 holes. We also now allow push carts on the course. The cost to store a push cart will be $100 annually, and we will charge $15 for 18 holes, and $10 for 9 holes.
Members can now carry their own bag any time after 2:00 pm. As mentioned in the past, there are many ways our members can contribute at Woodholme:
- Consider Woodholme when planning your next business meeting
- Join us for dinner one more night each month
- Bring a guest for lunch or dinner to showcase our great food
- Refer a new member, and receive 25% off your monthly dues
- Do you know of a business that may be interested in a Corporate Membership? Contact the Club, and we will follow up
- Please pay your bill on time! It is due on the 15th of each month. We are carrying a large amount of payables due to the way we carry charges until the end of each month
- Contact Management about any maintenance issues you see at the Club
We also welcome an opportunity to meet with the Executive Committee to ask questions with regards to happenings at the club.
As we begin to plan and budget for the next fiscal year, we are looking for your input. We will have these town hall meetings on the following dates:
Thursday, October 18th at 6:30pm – 7:30 pm and November 1st at 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Sincerely,
The Executive Committee |
